Jharkhand: CM Hemant Soren directs officials to frame diverse education policy

The Chief Minister instructed officials to create a policy that respects the linguistic and cultural diversity of the state.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday directed officials to develop an education policy that accounts for the state's social, linguistic, and cultural diversity, according to ThePrint.

While attending a presentation of the draft 'Jharkhand State Language Education Policy' in Ranchi, Soren said the policy must respect students' mother tongues to improve their skills and expressive abilities.

The Chief Minister told officials to create a visionary and practical policy that addresses digital proficiency, skill development, and the educational needs of students.

Soren suggested including hockey as part of skill-based education, noting that both boys and girls from the state have performed well in the sport.

He also emphasised the need for spoken English classes and digital training to help students improve their communication skills and advancement opportunities.

Officials stated that the draft policy covers three stages, spanning from early childhood through grade 2, grade 3 to grade 5, and grade 6 to grade 12.

The department aims to integrate local languages and mother tongues into these stages to help students achieve better academic results by studying in their own languages.
