NC accuses Ruhullah of helping BJP execute Operation Lotus in Kashmir

The National Conference claimed Srinagar MP Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi assisted the BJP in fulfilling its agenda after he resigned from the party.

The National Conference (NC) accused Srinagar MP Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi of assisting the BJP in the successful execution of its “Operation Lotus” in Jammu and Kashmir, according to The Tribune reported on Wednesday.

This allegation follows Mehdi's resignation from the party, which ended a 24-year association with the NC. Mehdi, who was elected to the Lok Sabha on an NC ticket in 2024, announced his decision during a rally at Bahisht-e-Zehra Park in Budgam district on Tuesday.

NC MLA Salman Sagar told reporters that the BJP's agenda was fulfilled with the help of Mehdi. Sagar also asked why the MP did not contact any NC MLA to find support for his concerns within the party.

Another NC MLA, Sajjad Shaheen, stated that the party is not strengthened or diminished by the presence or exit of any single person, noting that individuals come and go.

During an 80-minute speech to supporters on Tuesday, which marked the 26th death anniversary of his father, Aga Syed Mehdi, Mehdi suggested he might form a new political group in Jammu and Kashmir.
