Inflows surge at Velagaleru regulator after heavy rain in NTR district
Irrigation department officials reported that water inflows at the Budameru rivulet regulator decreased by Wednesday evening following heavy rainfall.
The Velagaleru regulator on the Budameru rivulet received inflows of 5,500 cusecs on Wednesday following heavy rains in NTR district on Tuesday, according to The Hindu.
The inflows, caused by the cyclonic storm Murasu, dropped to 4,174 cusecs by 7 p.m. on Wednesday, an irrigation department official said.
All inflows were diverted to the Krishna river through the Budameru Diversion Canal, with no water released into the 21 km Budameru course through Vijayawada.
Rainfall recorded between November 3 and November 4 included 166.8 mm in Tiruvuru mandal, 127.2 mm in Mylavaram, 128 mm in Vijayawada, and 114.2 mm in G. Konduru.
NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha inspected the Velagapudi Head Regulator, H. Muthyalampadu Bridge, and Kattaleru Bridge area on Wednesday evening.
The Collector stated that upstream water inflows have decreased significantly and there is no flood threat, advising residents to rely on official updates rather than social media rumours.
