Mobile phone and power banks seized from Kannur Central Jail
Prison officials discovered the prohibited items hidden beneath stone slabs behind the second block of the facility during a search on Monday.
Prison officials seized a mobile phone and various accessories, including two power banks, a charger and three data cables, from Kannur Central Jail on Monday, according to The Hindu.
The prohibited articles were found hidden beneath stone slabs located behind the second block of the jail.
The Town police have registered a case and started an investigation following a complaint by jail Joint Superintendent A. Shaiju.
The repeated seizure of prohibited items from within the jail compound has raised concerns regarding security checks.
It is suspected that inadequate inspection of cooking materials and food items brought into the prison is facilitating the smuggling of such articles.
