The US President claimed he has a 99 per cent approval rating in Israel during a Fox News interview on Election Day.
US President Donald Trump joked on Tuesday that he would relocate to Israel and seek the role of prime minister if he lost popularity in the United States. Speaking to Fox News on Election Day, Trump claimed he holds a 99 per cent approval rating in Israel, according to reports from The Times of India and Hindustan Times.
During the interview, Trump stated that if the American public ever grew weary of him, he would move to Israel to pursue a political career. He also claimed to possess the highest approval rating of any person in history, though he provided no polling data to support this assertion.
Trump praised Israel as a vital American ally and attributed his popularity there to his administration's actions against Iran. He noted that the US had stopped Iran, which he described as an unstoppable force.
The President also announced that the United States would end approximately $4 billion in annual assistance to Israel by the end of 2026. Trump said he had discussed this with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for several years and argued that Israel's economic strength means it no longer requires the funds.
The announcement comes as Americans vote in the 2026 midterm elections to determine control of the US Congress. The results will decide which party holds the House of Representatives and the Senate, potentially impacting Trump's future domestic and foreign policy.
