Owaisi urges Uttar Pradesh Muslims to strengthen political identity after Michigan win

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi cited the victory of Abdul El-Sayed in the US Senate as a call for political assertion.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has called on Muslims in Uttar Pradesh to bolster their political presence following the victory of Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. According to reports by India TV and Prabhat Khabar, Owaisi used the US election results to address the political identity of the community in India.

In a post on X, Owaisi stated that an Abdul has won in Michigan and suggested that the Abdul from Uttar Pradesh must now reinforce his political standing. He claimed that the Sanghis have attempted to use the name 'Abdul' as a taunt and said the time has come to show that an Abdul bows to no one except Allah.

Owaisi also remarked that they will no longer lay out the prayer mat. His comments come ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections scheduled for early 2027.

Abdul El-Sayed, a doctor and public health advocate of Egyptian descent, defeated Republican candidate and former MP Mike Rogers to become the first Muslim senator from Michigan. As per India TV, El-Sayed secured 22.07 lakh votes, representing 51.97 per cent of the total, while Rogers received 19.55 lakh votes based on 85 per cent of the votes counted.

El-Sayed previously led the health department in Detroit and Wayne County. His campaign focused on issues such as the cost of living, Medicare for All, and campaign finance reform.
