SIBM Hyderabad teaching case wins second place in global competition

The FarmDidi case study secured a US$2,000 prize at the 2026 Ivey Women Investing in Leadership Case Writing Competition.

A teaching case developed by a student and a faculty member at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Hyderabad (SIBM-H), has secured second place in the 2026 Ivey Women Investing in Leadership (IWIL) Case Writing Competition, according to Telangana Today.

The competition, organised by Ivey Publishing, saw 78 submissions from 157 contributors across 19 countries and 50 organisations. The winning case, titled FarmDidi: Sustaining Women’s Livelihoods in India’s Artisanal Food Economy, examines whether women contributing to an expanding enterprise share in its economic benefits.

Focusing on rural women producing handmade pickles, the study explores economic empowerment, decision-making, and ownership. The achievement highlights the work of the SIBM Hyderabad Case Development Centre, which uses real-world business challenges to promote experiential learning.

SIBM Hyderabad Director Prof. K. P.

Venugopala Rao said the achievement shows the value of faculty and student collaboration in creating practical learning experiences. He added that the institute aims to use research to address contemporary business challenges and develop critical thinking.

The institute also reported significant research and placement data. It recorded 179 faculty research publications in Scopus or Web of Science indexed journals over the last two years. For the 2026 batch, 96 per cent of eligible students secured placements, with an average annual cost to company of ₹9.6 lakh and a highest offer of ₹26 lakh.
