Over 93,000 candidates appear for UP Special TET 2026

An impersonator was caught in Lucknow during the teacher eligibility examination conducted across six divisional headquarters.

A total of 93,681 candidates, representing 87.92 per cent of those registered, participated in the Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET-2026) on Tuesday, according to The Indian Express.

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) organised the exam at centres in Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut and Agra.

During the session at Bappa Shri Narain Vocational Inter College in Lucknow, an individual attempting to impersonate another candidate was caught using AI-based software and handed over to the police.

The examination was divided into two sessions. The morning session, running from 9.30 am to 12 noon, was for those seeking to teach Classes 1 to 5, while the afternoon session from 2.30 pm to 5 pm was for Classes 6 to 8.

UPESSC Deputy Secretary Sanjay Singh stated that 50,666 of the 58,353 registered candidates attended the first shift. In the second shift, 43,015 out of 48,194 registered candidates appeared.

UPESSC Chairman Prashant Kumar said the exam was conducted in an orderly and transparent manner. The commission used an AI-integrated control command room and specialised software to monitor activities at the centres.
