Chhattisgarh begins special stray vacancy round for NEET 2026 seats
The Directorate of Medical Education is conducting counselling to fill 72 vacant MBBS and BDS seats in the state.
The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Chhattisgarh, has commenced the Special Stray Vacancy Round of counselling for NEET UG 2026 admissions, according to Medical Dialogues. This round aims to fill 72 remaining MBBS and BDS seats across government and private medical colleges in the state.
Fresh online registration and the process of choice filling began at 11:00 AM on November 3, 2026. The window for these activities will remain open until 11:59 PM on November 5, 2026.
Under the 2025 admission rules, only candidates who did not receive a seat in previous rounds or those registering for the first time can participate. Previously registered candidates must re-select their preferred institutions, as their prior selections are now void.
Candidates who previously only chose government colleges but now wish to include private colleges must pay the difference in registration fees. While new registrations and application edits are free of charge, certain data from central government examination results and contact details cannot be changed.
The authority noted that if a student is allotted a seat but fails to take admission or later gives up the seat, their registration fee will be forfeited. If vacancies remain after this round, a new allotment process may occur based on merit and candidate choices.
The DME warned against fraudulent claims regarding admissions, stating that all seat allocations are handled by a committee formed by the Office of the Commissioner of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh.
