West Bengal Board proposes shifting 2027 Madhyamik exams to March

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education suggested deferring Class 10 exams due to teacher deployment for the upcoming Census.

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has proposed postponing the 2027 Madhyamik examinations from February to March, according to reports by Times Now and The Economic Times.

The board has sent a revised schedule to the state education department, suggesting the exams be conducted from March 2 to 16 instead of the original dates of February 15 to 25.

WBBSE President Laltu Das told PTI that the proposal is due to teachers being deployed for the Census enumeration exercise in February. The Census is scheduled to run from January 25 until February 28 next year.

Das stated that the proposal has been sent to the education department but nothing has been finalised yet. If the revised schedule is approved, the WBBSE will publish a new subject-wise examination calendar.

Under the proposed schedule, examinations would be held from 10:45 am to 2 pm. Students would be allotted 15 minutes to read the question paper, with answer writing starting at 11 am.
