The Kindness Foundation to host NextGen Forum in Chennai

The two-day youth safety and wellbeing conclave aims to bridge the generational gap through co-created discussions.

The Kindness Foundation will host the NextGen Forum, a two-day youth safety and wellbeing conclave, on November 13 and 14 at Taj Coromandel in Chennai. According to The Hindu, the initiative seeks to bridge the divide between generations by involving young people directly in discussions about their lives.

The first day of the forum will focus on the perspectives of students between the ages of 11 and 17. The second day will involve changemakers who will listen and respond to these perspectives.

Mahima Poddar, founder of the foundation, said that most conversations regarding youth safety happen about young people rather than with them. She noted that the forum aims to reverse this trend and create a co-created white paper to turn opinions into practical changes.

The event will address five key areas, including emotional and psychological health, personal boundaries, autonomy, digital and social risk literacy, health awareness, and legal and institutional accountability. The forum will include hands-on activities and an open Town Hall.

Poddar explained that she observed two gaps: a lack of understanding between adults and young people, and a lack of communication between different adult groups such as parents, schools, and the police. She stated that these gaps can cause young people to slip through the cracks.
