Telangana Sports Minister inaugurates renovated tennis complex at LB Stadium
The renovated SATS Tennis Complex in Hyderabad will host the eighth season of the Tennis Premier League in December.
Telangana Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari inaugurated the renovated SATS Tennis Complex at the Lal Bahadur Stadium (LB Stadium) in Hyderabad on Wednesday, according to ANI and The Tribune.
The facility is operated by the Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) and houses the Telangana State Tennis Association. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and local leaders were also present at the event.
Speaking to ANI, Srihari said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was adamant before PM Modi that the state could have sports infrastructure, and that Khelo India has been given to Telangana.
Srihari expressed confidence that the state has the potential to emerge as a sporting destination. He stated that the government will tell the world about Telangana's sporting potential.
The renovated complex is scheduled to host the eighth season of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) from December 8 to 13. This will be the first time the league is held in Hyderabad.
The state government has plans to establish a Young India Sports University to prepare athletes for the Olympic Games. This follows Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's vision in June to develop the state as an education and sports hub.
