Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma showcase fielding skills in Auckland ODI
The duo produced key dismissals as India faced New Zealand in the first match of a five-match series.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma produced important dismissals during India's first One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand in Auckland on Wednesday, according to the Times of India. The match was part of a five-match series that began on November 4.
In the 29th over, Kohli took a low catch at second slip to dismiss Nathan Smith off the bowling of Anshul Kamboj. Smith had played a full delivery outside off stump that resulted in a thick edge, which Kohli caught while diving to his right. This dismissal reduced New Zealand to 115/7.
Earlier in the innings, Rohit Sharma assisted in the dismissal of Daryl Mitchell in the 22nd over. Mitchell nudged an Axar Patel delivery towards the leg side, but confusion between the batters allowed Rohit to collect the ball from mid-wicket and make a quick underarm throw. K.L.
Rahul completed the run-out behind the stumps.
India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field. The Indian playing XI included specialist fast bowlers Anshul Kamboj, Auqib Nabi, Gurnoor Brar, and Arshdeep Singh, while Mohammed Siraj was left out. Spin-bowling all-rounder Naman Dhir was included in the side instead of Nitish Kumar Reddy.
The New Zealand lineup featured Tim Seifert, Will Young, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Nathan Smith, Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy, and Blair Tickner.
