Virat Kohli becomes first batter to score 13,000 ODI runs at No. 3

The Indian batter reached the milestone during the first ODI against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday.

Indian batter Virat Kohli became the first player in the world to score 13,000 One Day International (ODI) runs as a No. 3 batter on Wednesday, November 4. According to News18, Kohli reached the landmark during the first ODI between India and New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland, scoring the required 12 runs on the 13th ball of his innings.

The achievement makes Kohli the only player with more than 10,000 ODI runs at the No. 3 position, alongside former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. ANI reported that Kohli has scored 13,062 runs in 254 matches at No. 3, with an average of 61.61, including 48 centuries.

During the match, Kohli played a quickfire knock of 74 runs from 51 balls. ANI stated that this performance made him the first-ever cricketer to achieve a batting average of 50 or more across all SENA nations, which includes South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia.

Kohli's average in New Zealand stands at 51.53 from 14 innings. His averages in the other SENA nations are 76.38 in South Africa, 51.48 in England, and 50.03 in Australia.

The batter has also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the most accomplished run-chaser in ODI history. ANI noted that Kohli has scored 8,741 runs in 180 matches during run-chases, with an average of 66.21.
