Hardik Pandya likely to join Punjab Kings in major IPL trade deal

Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings are in advanced talks to exchange Hardik Pandya for Arshdeep Singh and Vishnu Vinod.

Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings are in advanced negotiations to trade all-rounder Hardik Pandya for pacer Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod, according to reports from Sportstar and Times Now.

The deal, which is being discussed ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, has reportedly reached an agreement between the senior management of both franchises. An official announcement is expected by the end of this week, prior to the November 17 retention deadline.

A source told PTI that while both parties are keen to make the trade happen, it is not yet a done deal. If the exchange is finalised, Pandya will join Punjab Kings as a specialist player, as the franchise is set to retain Shreyas Iyer as captain.

Punjab Kings is looking to add an experienced all-rounder to strengthen its middle order and bowling options. The franchise, coached by Ricky Ponting, reportedly initiated the approach to acquire Pandya.

For Mumbai Indians, the trade would bring in Arshdeep Singh to bolster their bowling attack and Vishnu Vinod to provide wicketkeeping depth. Pandya previously moved from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians in an all-cash trade before the 2024 season.

The trade comes after a period of limited success for Pandya as captain of Mumbai Indians, during which the team finished near the bottom of the standings twice.
