The 22-year-old World No. 161 secured two three-set victories to advance in the WTA 250 tournament.
American tennis player Robin Montgomery has reached the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 Chennai Open after winning two three-set matches, according to The Hindu.
The 22-year-old left-handed player, currently ranked World No. 161, defeated Hungarian Panna Udvardy 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 and Belgian teenager Jeline Vandroome 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
Montgomery's victory over Vandroome lasted three hours under hot and humid conditions.
The player previously underwent surgery for a persistent wrist issue in 2025, the year she made her Top 100 debut, which kept her out of action for 10 months.
“Sometimes I forget how young I am and I try to keep that in perspective,” Montgomery said regarding her career.
Montgomery recently won her first Tour-level title in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in June as she continues her comeback.
