Actors should not burden producers with staff costs, says KC Bokadia
The veteran filmmaker praised Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Rajinikanth for not making producers pay their personal staff salaries.
Veteran filmmaker KC Bokadia has urged actors to be mindful of production costs and the financial well-being of films, according to reports by Hindustan Times and ANI.
Speaking in an interview with ANI, Bokadia praised the professionalism of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Rajinikanth. He noted that these actors never expected producers to bear the expenses of their personal staff.
Bokadia expressed concern regarding the rising expenditure on additional staff and vanity vans during film shoots. He said some actors now expect multiple vans equipped with facilities like gyms, which increases daily production costs.
Reflecting on the changing work culture, Bokadia observed that artists previously shared meals together but now prefer spending breaks in vanity vans. He shared an anecdote about Jackie Shroff, who was unconcerned when provided with a double room instead of a suite during a shoot in Chennai.
The filmmaker emphasised that filmmaking is a business and urged actors to have mercy on producers. He stated, "If the producer is alive, then we will also be alive."
Bokadia has worked in the film industry for over five decades as a producer, director and screenwriter. His notable films include Teri Meherbaniyan, Pyar Jhukta Nahin and Lal Baadshah.
