Bengaluru: BDA to start Ballari Road elevated corridor work on November 6
Traffic restrictions for buses and goods vehicles will last 18 months to facilitate the construction of the four-lane corridor.
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will begin construction of a four-lane elevated corridor between UAS Staff Quarters and Mehkri Circle on November 6, according to The Hindu. The project, which is expected to continue for 18 months, aims to decongest traffic at the Hebbal junction.
The construction involves a ₹2,215 crore project featuring a six-lane short tunnel between the Hebbal junction and Veterinary College. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has stayed tree-felling for the project until it disposes of pending petitions.
To manage the work, the Bengaluru Traffic Police have prohibited the movement of all goods vehicles, including Light, Medium, and Heavy Goods Vehicles, as well as KSRTC and private buses on Ballari Road. This restriction also applies to vehicles heading towards Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and the city through Hebbal.
Cars, two-wheelers, and auto rickshaws are permitted to continue using the road. However, commuters, including those in emergency vehicles, have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid disruptions.
Motorists travelling towards KIA from the city may proceed via Old High Grounds Junction, Kalpana Junction, Old Udaya TV Junction, and Nagawara Road. Those travelling from Yeshwantpur towards the airport are advised to take Mathikere Road via BEL Circle and the Ring Road.
For those travelling from the airport towards the city, one option is to turn at Hebbal towards Nagawara Junction, Bamboo Bazaar, and Queens Road. Another route involves taking a right at Hebbal via the Hebbal Ring Road, Kuvempu Circle, and Goraguntepalya Junction.
