Bihar to fast-track 3 lakh rural projects worth Rs 22,000 crore

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed officials to increase the number of projects under the VB-G RAM G mission to support village development.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has ordered officials to speed up the implementation of the Viksit Bharat-Rozgar evam Aajeevika Guarantee Mission-Rural (VB-G RAM G), according to Urban Acres. The state aims to complete 3 lakh projects valued at Rs 22,000 crore to boost rural employment and village infrastructure.

During a review meeting on Thursday, Choudhary stated that the mission should provide rural households with 125 days of guaranteed work every year. He also told officials that wage payments must be completed within 15 days.

The planned number of projects under the mission is being raised from 1.5 lakh to 3 lakh. The state government said the programme is designed to improve livelihoods, support employment, and advance infrastructure in villages.

Choudhary identified four priority areas: disaster management, livelihood enhancement, rural infrastructure, and water security. Proposed works include building healthcare facilities, rural markets, playgrounds, school classrooms, and Anganwadi centres.

Each Anganwadi centre will be allocated Rs 12 lakh for construction and a further Rs 2 lakh for furniture, educational materials, and furnishings. The mission also includes renovating reservoirs, canals, and other water bodies.

Rural Development Department Additional Chief Secretary H R Srinivas presented the implementation strategy at the meeting. The next stage involves executing the expanded project list and monitoring wage payments and priority works.
