Himachal Pradesh to earn Rs 400 crore from Rajasthan power sale
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced an agreement to sell electricity to Rajasthan at Rs 15.50 per unit.
Himachal Pradesh will generate Rs 400 crore in revenue over the next four months by selling electricity to Rajasthan, according to The Tribune. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the agreement, which sets the sale rate at Rs 15.50 per unit, while addressing a meeting at Bhanjraru Kala Manch in the Churah assembly constituency of Chamba district on Wednesday.
Sukhu said the state has pursued the central government to increase its free power share in the 180-MW Baira-Siul Hydroelectric Project to 50 per cent after 44 years of operation. He also noted a legal victory in the Wildflower Hall case, which resulted in a recovery of Rs 401 crore. He stated the property would generate approximately Rs 37 crore in annual revenue through e-auctioning after receiving no revenue for 23 years.
Regarding education, the Chief Minister said four senior secondary schools at Himgiri, Thalli, Jajjakothi and Maroond will be affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He added that more than 100 new CBSE-affiliated schools are proposed across the state and more than 2,700 teachers have been recruited.
Sukhu accused the previous BJP government of opening several educational and health institutions without providing adequate staff. He said his government has rationalised institutions and filled thousands of vacant teaching posts.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for nine development projects worth Rs 60.67 crore at Bhanjraru. Additionally, Sukhu laid a wreath at the funeral of former Rampur MLA Nand Lal, who was cremated with full state honours.
