Cabinet approves 30-year lease of High Grounds land to Bangalore Turf Club
The State government has agreed to lease four acres of the current premises to the club as racing activities move to Kunigal.
The State government on Thursday approved a 30-year lease of four acres in High Grounds to the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC), according to The Hindu.
The land currently contains club facilities and a heritage structure. While the BTC requested six acres to maintain its betting centre and club operations, the government approved the lease for four acres.
Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Eshwar Khandre informed presspersons that the club has requested additional time to move its racing activities to the Kunigal Stud Farm.
This decision follows a previous government move to not extend the BTC lease and an offer to provide land for a new racecourse at Kunigal. The BTC had initially been reluctant but eventually agreed to the relocation.
Minister Khandre also announced that the winter session at Belagavi, originally set for November 30 to December 11, has been rescheduled to begin on December 2.
