Manipur government approves land allotment for Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kakching

The state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh, approved approximately 4 acres of land for the new school.

The Manipur government on Thursday approved a proposal to allot around 4 acres of land in Kakching district to establish a Kendriya Vidyalaya, according to ThePrint.

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh. The state land, measuring about 1.6187 hectares, will be allotted at Wabagai (Revenue Village No. 66) to the Directorate of Education (Schools).

Kakching has not had a Kendriya Vidyalaya since it became a district in 2016. An official statement said the new school will provide children with access to affordable CBSE education close to home.

The council of ministers also approved the Manipur Civil Services (Implementation of the Unified Pension Scheme under the National Pension System) Rules, 2026. These rules will take effect from April 1.

Under these rules, employees completing 25 years of service will receive a full assured monthly payout and a lump sum. Those with 20 years of service will receive a proportionate pension, family pension, and dearness relief.

The cabinet also cleared the Manipur Civil Services (Payment of Gratuity under the National Pension System) Rules, 2026, effective from April 1. These rules provide retirement and death gratuity to all employees under the NPS.
