Chennai civic body removes cutouts of CM Vijay and Jagan Mohan Reddy

Greater Chennai Corporation workers cleared large structures in MRC Nagar that violated laws regulating public spaces.

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) workers removed large cutouts of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP supremo Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in MRC Nagar on Thursday, according to reports by Deccan Chronicle, Rediff and Moneycontrol.

The cutouts were erected by YSRCP followers to welcome Reddy and Vijay for a family wedding of the former Chief Minister. The structures were located near the wedding venue.

An official stated that the removal was in line with a state policy decision to remove structures that hinder the public. The official added that the cutouts directly violated strict laws regulating public spaces.

The GCC has also deployed workers across city zones to remove public banners and dangerous hoarding frames, coinciding with the northeast monsoon, the official said.

Later on Thursday evening, Chief Minister Vijay attended the wedding reception of the daughter of Y S Anil Reddy, who is the cousin of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, at a private hotel in Chennai.
