The four-day workshop in Patna focused on the scientific preservation and digitisation of government documents.

The Bihar State Archives Directorate conducted a four-day training programme in Patna from November 2 to 5 to train approximately 400 officials in record management, preservation, and digitisation, according to Urban Acres.

The workshop aimed to improve how government documents are maintained and accessed. It focused on the scientific management and long-term preservation of records held in various government offices.

Bihar State Archives director Mohd Faisal Abdullah inaugurated the programme. He stated that records are essential to the administrative system and require organised and systematic preservation.

The training covered the Bihar Public Records Act, 2014, and the Bihar Public Records Rules, 2015. Participants were briefed on their duties regarding the creation and maintenance of public records under these legal provisions.

Technical sessions led by archivist Rashmi Kiran addressed record classification, indexing, storage, transfer procedures, and record room management. The programme also highlighted the importance of digitising valuable documents to ensure long-term accessibility.

The training included officials from district offices, courts, police departments, and the state secretariat. These participants are expected to apply the new procedures across their respective departments.
