Vijay Sethupathi to present award at 54th International Emmy Awards

The Tamil actor will be the first Indian actor to present an award at the ceremony in New York.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi is set to become the first Indian actor to present an award at the 54th International Emmy Awards. The event is scheduled to take place in New York on November 23 or 24, 2026, according to reports from Moneycontrol and Mathrubhumi.

The development was facilitated by Kavita Gupta, a producer and board member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. While other Indian artists have held prominent roles previously, Sethupathi will be the first Indian actor to serve as a presenter at this ceremony.

Comedian and actor Vir Das hosted the event in 2024, and Priyanka Chopra presented an award at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2016. Vir Das is also returning as a nominee this year for his 2025 Netflix special, Vir Das: Fool Volume.

Other Indian entries include the SonyLIV series Real Kashmir Football Club, starring Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Manav Kaul. Director Mahesh Mathai will represent the drama series at the ceremony.

Sethupathi was recently featured in Baththa, directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan. His upcoming projects include the Tamil film Train, which is scheduled for release on December 4, 2026.
