Five armed criminals loot gold and cash from bank in Jharkhand

The robbers escaped with gold jewellery worth Rs 4 crore and Rs 12 lakh in cash after holding people hostage.

Five armed criminals looted gold jewellery worth Rs 4 crore and Rs 12 lakh in cash from a UCO Bank in Jharkhand on Thursday, according to Prabhat Khabar. The robbery took place at approximately 12:44 pm during the day.

The criminals entered the bank and held employees and customers hostage at gunpoint. One criminal pointed a gun at the bank manager's head while others used weapons to restrain everyone in one place.

The robbers targeted the bank lockers to collect the jewellery and cash. Before fleeing, they locked the main door from the outside, leaving the staff and customers trapped inside for approximately 20 minutes.

A customer who had arrived to deposit money alleged that the criminals demanded money and assaulted him when he resisted. Local people eventually arrived and opened the locked door to rescue those inside.

Police arrived at the scene and have started an investigation. Authorities are questioning bank employees and witnesses while reviewing footage from the bank's cameras to identify the criminals and determine their escape route.
