Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed relief measures in Amaravati after Cyclone Murasu caused eight deaths and significant infrastructure damage.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will visit areas affected by Cyclone Murasu on Friday, according to the Deccan Chronicle. The Chief Minister reviewed relief and restoration measures in Amaravati on Thursday following the cyclone, which has caused an estimated preliminary loss of Rs 1,918.55 crore to the state.

The cyclone resulted in eight deaths, including five in Bapatla, two in Guntur, and one in Palnadu. Rescue and relief operations involved 11 SDRF teams, 13 NDRF teams, and 390 fire personnel, while authorities sent approximately 5.87 crore advance warning messages to the public.

Naidu requested details regarding damage to agriculture, power supply, roads, municipal infrastructure, and rural services. He directed officials to prioritise the restoration of power, roads, and drinking water to ensure farmers and the public do not face hardship.

Agricultural crops were damaged across 1,43,122 hectares, affecting 1,86,063 farmers, while horticultural crops were hit in over 6,749 hectares, impacting 12,586 farmers. An accurate assessment of crop losses is expected 48 to 72 hours after flood waters recede.

Infrastructure damage includes 760.10km of major district roads and state highways, as well as 74 rural roads covering 204.14km. The government has released Rs 37 crore to districts for immediate relief as restoration work continues.

Telecom services have seen 97.1 per cent restoration, with 30,518 of the state's 31,428 towers operational by Thursday. Restoration work remains pending at certain locations in Bapatla, Prakasam, and West Godavari districts.
