Madhav urges Centre to assess cyclone damage in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhav has requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to send teams to evaluate storm destruction.

Andhra Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhav has requested the Central government to send assessment teams to evaluate the impact of severe cyclonic storm Murasu in the state, according to the Deccan Chronicle.

In a letter sent to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday, Madhav asked for an evaluation of the ground situation to secure help from relevant central ministries and departments through disaster management protocols.

The BJP leader requested aid for farmers facing significant crop destruction, specifically asking for support via existing agricultural programmes and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

Madhav also called for an assessment of damage to electricity networks, irrigation systems, roads, and other vital infrastructure to facilitate restoration efforts.

He noted that the state has been impacted by two consecutive cyclones, Arnab and Murasu, which caused widespread damage across several districts.

Madhav emphasised the need for coordination between the Centre and the state government to provide timely help to rural communities, farmers, and affected families to rebuild their livelihoods.
