Cyclone Murasu impact weakens across Andhra Pradesh
Rainfall has largely stopped in most parts of the state as the severe cyclonic storm subsides, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre.
Rainfall caused by Cyclone Murasu weakened significantly across Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, according to reports from ANI and the State Emergency Operations Centre. Most areas saw rain stop by Thursday morning, though some very light showers were noted in the south coastal belt.
Heavy precipitation on 4 November was primarily located in the Godavari belt, including West Godavari, East Godavari, Kakinada, Eluru, and Polavaram districts. By Thursday morning, rain activity moved to Nellore district at a light to moderate level, while the Rayalaseema region and other districts saw minimal to no rainfall.
The highest rainfall totals over the last two days were recorded in Nidadavole, Kovvur, and Kakinada, as well as Mummidivaram and Amalapuram in Konaseema. Urban areas also reported an easing of rain, with no fresh waterlogging or heavy rain noted in towns on Thursday morning.
Water levels in reservoirs and drains have stabilised, with inflows into monitored projects showing steady or declining trends. While Thammileru and Budameru are receding and Yerra Kalva has stabilised, the Kondaveeti Vagu pump house is being used to manage water levels.
The state has no heavy rainfall warning in force, though moderate rain may occur in Nellore, Tirupati, and Bapatla towards the weekend. Authorities have advised residents in low-lying areas near canals and reservoirs to remain cautious and follow district administration instructions.
