Centre rejects Rajasthan request to repatriate four IAS officers

The state government sought the return of senior bureaucrats to improve governance and implement budget announcements amid an officer shortage.

The Central government has rejected a request from the Rajasthan government to return four IAS officers currently on central deputation, according to reports by Bhaskar English and NorthBlockSouthBlock.

The Rajasthan Personnel Department had written to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) seeking the return of officers who have been serving outside the state for five years or more.

The state government stated that the experience of these officers is necessary for good governance, timely implementation of budget announcements, and the monitoring of welfare schemes.

The four officers identified are Rajiv Singh Thakur, Roli Singh, Rajat Kumar Mishra, and Nareshpal Gangwar.

Rajiv Singh Thakur has served as a District Collector in five districts, while Roli Singh previously served as Secretary of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC).

Rajat Kumar Mishra has experience in the Finance Department, and Nareshpal Gangwar has served as Principal Secretary of the Energy Department.

Currently, 19 IAS officers from Rajasthan are on central deputation, leaving 39 senior officers in the state to manage multiple departments simultaneously.

Expert Mahesh Sharma noted that while the Centre and state consult on these matters, Central government rules prevail in the event of a disagreement.
