Pilibhit to get 200-acre bio-pharma park
The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority is developing a large industrial area in Amaria tehsil to attract biotechnology investments.
The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) is developing a 951.79-acre industrial area at Bhara Pachpera in Pilibhit’s Amaria tehsil, according to The Times of India. An official spokesperson said on Wednesday that 200 acres of this site are designated for a dedicated bio-pharma park to attract investment in advanced biological medicine manufacturing.
The proposed park aims to encourage units that produce insulin, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, and gene therapies. It is intended to create an ecosystem for biotechnology-based manufacturing, research, and innovation in the Terai region.
GN Singh, director and special expert at the UP Promote Pharma Council, said the project is part of government efforts to expand industrial development into smaller districts to generate employment and investment. Of the total land, 575.79 acres are set aside for industrial plots, while 60.98 acres are for common facilities, 109.23 acres for green spaces, and 96.20 acres for roads.
The project plans to include a biotechnology institute, an incubation centre, and skill development facilities to support startups and train local youth. Currently, 14 plots are available for allotment.
Bhara Pachpera is located approximately 36 km from Pilibhit city, 100 km from Bareilly, and about 300 km from both Lucknow and Delhi. Proximity to the Nepal border and railway connectivity are expected to help the movement of finished products and raw materials.
