Light rain and snow predicted for Jammu and Kashmir today

Meteorological Department Director Mukhtar Ahmad expects falling temperatures and more frequent morning fog across the region.

Jammu and Kashmir is expected to experience light rainfall in certain areas and snow in higher altitudes on Thursday, according to the Kashmir Observer.

Director of the Meteorological Department Mukhtar Ahmad said that temperatures are expected to drop further, with morning fog potentially becoming more common.

Ahmad stated that weather conditions will remain mostly dry from November 5 until November 9, before another system arrives on November 10 and 11.

This upcoming system may bring light rain to parts of both divisions, possible isolated thunderstorms, and snow in high-altitude zones.

On Wednesday, Kupwara and Gulmarg recorded minimum temperatures of 1.8 degrees Celsius and 1.6 degrees Celsius, respectively, which were 0.1 degrees below seasonal averages.

Ahmad noted that winter has almost arrived and advised farmers to use the dry period for harvesting and sowing, while urging commuters to follow traffic advisories.
