Bihar health department to recruit more than 11,000 staff soon

The official notification for the administrative, technical and medical support positions is expected by the last week of November.

The Bihar health department is preparing to fill more than 11,000 administrative, technical and medical support positions across the state, according to The Hindu. State Health Society Executive Director Nawal Kishore Chaudhary said on Wednesday that the official recruitment notification is expected to be issued by the last week of November 2026.

The department is currently gathering updated vacancy details from all 38 districts, including community health centres, primary health centres, sub-divisional hospitals and district-level health institutions. The first phase of hiring will include staff nurses, laboratory technicians, clerical staff, managerial-category posts, Block Health Managers (BHM) and NME personnel at the block level.

Chaudhary stated that recruitment for other vacant positions will be conducted during a second phase. He noted that the recruitment calendar is nearly finished and will be made public once it receives approval from the relevant authorities.

The appointments are intended to assist doctors and paramedical staff at the panchayat and block levels, which the department says will improve primary healthcare in rural and remote areas. The hiring is also expected to align healthcare worker numbers with patient loads to reduce the workload on current employees in sub-divisional and district hospitals.

The department aims to finish the entire process, including selection, document verification and the distribution of appointment letters, within six to seven months of the notification being issued. Chaudhary said that having enough nurses and technicians would help ensure patients get quality services and timely diagnostic reports.
