PM Modi tells Sharad Pawar to rest as Supriya Sule is ready
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly advised the NCP-SP chief to focus on his recovery while suggesting his daughter would help lead the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday to enquire about his health, according to reports by The Times of India and Moneycontrol. The Prime Minister reportedly told the 85-year-old leader to focus on his recovery and suggested that Baramati MP Supriya Sule and the government would look after the country.
Vitthal Maniyar, a close associate of Pawar, told the media that the Prime Minister spoke with warmth and respect. Maniyar stated that Modi urged Pawar not to worry about work and suggested that Sule was prepared to assist in national affairs while Pawar rested.
Pawar, who was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on November 2 after complaining of pleuritic pain, was discharged on Wednesday. He reportedly thanked the Prime Minister for the enquiry and assured him that he would take rest.
Following his discharge from the Pune hospital, Pawar was re-admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for further tests, according to a social media post by Sule.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, who is also the president of the Republican Party of India (Athawale), said in Thane that Sule could be considered for a position in the Union Cabinet during the next expansion if she joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
