Telangana to launch family insurance scheme on November 19

Eligible families in the state will receive a life insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh under the new scheme.

The Telangana government will launch a Rs 5 lakh life insurance cover for all eligible families in the state on November 19 in Siddipet, according to The Hindu.

Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced the scheme following a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The launch coincides with the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The application process is scheduled to run from November 20 to November 30. Indiramma committees will visit households in villages to collect applications, which will be received by Tahsildars and gram panchayat secretaries.

The Cabinet also decided to establish separate commissions for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Each commission will consist of a chairman and five members to facilitate faster disposal of complaints, Mr Reddy said.

Other decisions included sanctioning 136 posts for judicial institutions across various districts and amending the Telangana Survey and Boundaries Act, 1923, to reduce the appeal time limit for survey notices from 60 to 30 days.

The Cabinet also approved an Ordinance to amend the Telangana Fire Service Act, 1999, to strengthen fire prevention and response mechanisms.
