IMD warns of rain and thunderstorms in 10 Tamil Nadu districts
The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rainfall and lightning across several districts until early Wednesday morning.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has issued a warning for light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in 10 Tamil Nadu districts until 1 am on November 6, according to ANI.
The districts expected to see rainfall include Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupathur, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, and the Nilgiris.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that the rain could cause waterlogging and slippery roads, which may impact traffic in some areas.
The IMD bulletin stated that the remnant of Severe Cyclonic Storm Murasu weakened into a depression over east Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.
This system, which was moving north at 10 kmph, is expected to weaken further into a well-marked low-pressure area within the next 12 hours.
Doppler Weather Radars at Machilipatnam and Visakhapatnam are currently monitoring the depression continuously.
