Iran sends nuclear proposal to US through Qatar with seven conditions

Tehran will not resume negotiations or open the Strait of Hormuz until Washington meets specific demands, a senior official said.

Iran has submitted a nuclear proposal to the United States via Qatar, though it will only enter discussions once Washington meets seven specific demands, according to reports by Times Now and Hindustan Times citing a senior Iranian official on Thursday.

The official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, stated that the US is reviewing the proposal but did not provide further details regarding its contents.

During a visit to Russia on Thursday, Iran's top security official Mohsen Rezaei said the country would not engage in diplomacy or reopen the Strait of Hormuz until the seven conditions are met.

Tehran's requirements include the lifting of US sanctions, the unfreezing of its assets, and compensation for damages caused by the war.

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday in the Oval Office that the military is producing weapons at an unprecedented rate and remains prepared for further operations.

Trump stated that Iran cannot act without US approval and maintained that the country will not acquire a nuclear weapon.

The conflict began on February 28 when the US and Israel attacked Iran, leading to retaliatory strikes by Tehran against Israel and Gulf nations hosting American bases.
