Iran security chief meets Putin in Moscow to discuss regional security

Mohsen Rezaei delivered a message from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei during talks regarding energy cooperation and the war on Iran.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Thursday to discuss regional security arrangements, according to Al Jazeera and ANI.

Rezaei delivered a letter to Putin from Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei during the meeting at the Kremlin, as reported by the Iranian state broadcaster Press TV.

The talks focused on security in the region and Russia’s support for ending US aggression against Iran, Rezaei said.

Rezaei stated that the discussions also covered plans to deepen energy cooperation, including the construction of gas pipelines from Russia to Iran to address gas shortages.

Rezaei said Tehran will not hold negotiations with the US or reopen the Strait of Hormuz until Washington meets seven specific conditions.

The meeting occurred as diplomatic efforts to end the war on Iran continue, following US midterm elections where the Republican Party lost control of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
