Kurukshetra NGO to upgrade Punjab government primary school infrastructure
Anjveda Vikas Sansthan will provide free educational resources and student development programmes across eight districts in the Malwa region.
The Department of School Education has permitted the Kurukshetra-based NGO, Anjveda Vikas Sansthan, to provide free infrastructure support and educational resources in Punjab government schools. According to The Tribune, the NGO will also undertake teacher capacity-building initiatives and student development programmes.
Under its ‘Jeevan Manch’ project, the initiative will initially focus on government primary schools in eight districts of the Malwa region, including Sangrur, Mansa, Bathinda, Fazilka, Muktsar, Faridkot, Moga and Ferozepur.
The Education Department stipulated that all assistance must be provided at no cost, with zero financial liability on the state government. An approval order issued to NGO president Saurav Saini states that the NGO is barred from conducting commercial, political, or religious activities on school premises.
The NGO has identified 26 categories of assistance, ranging from LED lights, ceiling fans and RO water purifiers to smart TVs, desktop computers and science lab equipment. To address staff shortages, the NGO also plans to hire private teachers on a contractual basis for arts, crafts, and vocational subjects.
All donated assets will become school property and must be recorded in institutional stock registers. The department noted that interventions must not disrupt daily classes or the academic calendar and that the Education Department retains the right to inspect or revoke permission at any time.
