Tamil Nadu to ensure uninterrupted power supply for Deepavali
Energy Resources Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar has instructed electricity officials to prevent unnecessary power cuts across the state during the festival.
Tamil Nadu has made arrangements to provide continuous electricity across the state on Deepavali, according to a report by Urban Acres on Thursday.
Energy Resources Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar told reporters in Madurai that the electricity department has been ordered to ensure consumers do not experience power cuts on the festival day. He stated that officials must conduct sufficient inspections and refrain from implementing unnecessary shutdowns.
The minister, who was speaking after inaugurating a new building at a government higher secondary school in Puliyankulam near Thiruparankundram, said consumers can report any interruptions to the electricity department.
While the minister provided these assurances, he did not share specific details regarding the number of staff being deployed, the exact areas for extra monitoring, or the specific complaint mechanisms to be used.
The announcement focuses on maintaining service continuity and limiting planned shutdowns, though the minister did not specify if technical faults could still lead to outages.
