Authorities bar Diljit Dosanjh from singing four songs at Indore concert
The restrictions follow a complaint regarding the alleged promotion of violence and liquor and its potential impact on young children.
Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has been prohibited from performing four songs at his November 15 concert in Indore, according to reports by The Times of India and WION. The restricted tracks include Patiala Peg, 5 Tara Theke, Jeb Vicho Feem, and Jatt Fire Karda.
The District Child Protection Officer of the Women and Child Development Department in Indore issued directions to the C-21 Mall venue management following a complaint from Chandigarh-based Dr Punditrao Dharenavar. The official communication stated that these songs could negatively influence young listeners.
The directive noted that while children older than five years are permitted to attend the event, the specific tracks must be excluded from the setlist. The decision cited a July 22, 2019, Punjab and Haryana High Court order which instructed police to prevent the playing of songs that glorify drugs, alcohol, or violence at live shows.
In his complaint, Dharenavar requested that the songs be banned even if the lyrics are changed. He also asked authorities to prevent the singer from bringing children onto the stage and from wearing silver bullet belts, also known as bandoliers, across his chest.
Addressing the situation, Dosanjh stated he would still perform in Indore on November 15. He said, "Anyone can say anything, but I will meet you in Indore on 15th November."
