Suriya film Scene earns over ₹19 crore on opening day

The action-comedy directed by Jithu Madhavan surpassed the opening-day collections of the actor's previous 2026 releases.

The Tamil debut film Scene, starring Suriya, Nazriya Nazim and Naslen, collected ₹19.15 crore net in India on its opening day on November 6, according to reports by Hindustan Times, News18 and Outlook. The film, which was released ahead of Diwali, earned a worldwide gross of ₹34.25 crore including ₹12 crore from overseas markets.

The Tamil version of the film contributed ₹16.15 crore to the Indian net collection, while the Telugu-dubbed version brought in ₹3 crore. This opening surpassed the day-one figures of Suriya's earlier 2026 releases, Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons, which opened with ₹15.50 crore and ₹15.35 crore respectively.

Despite the strong start, Scene did not beat the opening-day records of Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 and Vijay's Jana Nayagan. The film also faced competition from Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana and Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman 2, which launched simultaneously.

Written and directed by Jithu Madhavan, Scene is produced by 2D Entertainment and Zhagaram Studios. The story follows a cop, played by Suriya, who must hunt a contract killer after his secret is exposed.

The film features music by Sushin Shyam and includes performances by Anandaraj, Lal, Rajpriyan and others. It maintains a 55 per cent average occupancy according to Sacnilk.
