Ramayana: Rise Of A Legend earns Rs 46 crore on opening day in India

The Nitesh Tiwari film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, has recorded a strong start ahead of the Diwali weekend.

Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana: Rise Of A Legend' released worldwide on Thursday, November 5, and has earned Rs 46 crore net in India by 6 PM on its opening day, according to the Hindustan Times. The film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, is reported to have a budget of Rs 1,600 crore and is considered the most expensive Indian film ever made.

The Hindi version has been the largest contributor to the collections. While the film has seen houseful screenings in several theatres, the Kannada version, featuring Yash as Ravana, has started on a slower note, contributing Rs 5.37 crore, according to the Hindustan Times.

The film's advance bookings reached Rs 96.75 crore in India before the release, according to the Indian Express. This figure represents the second highest advance booking ever, following Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar 2'. The Indian Express reported that the film has also topped the advance booking records for the PVR INOX chain.

With its current performance, the film is expected to cross the Rs 70 crore net mark on its opening day. If it achieves this, it will surpass the opening-day collections of films such as 'Animal' (Rs 63 crore), 'Drishyam 2' (Rs 62 crore), and 'Pathaan' (Rs 57 crore), according to the Times of India.

The production is a collaboration between Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, DNEG, and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film is planned as a two-part project, with the second part scheduled for Diwali 2028, according to the Hindustan Times.
