The Uttar Pradesh government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners from 60 per cent to 63 per cent, according to reports by Bhaskar English, The Hindu and Deccan Herald. The hike is effective retrospectively from July 1, 2026.
The decision benefits 1.6 million employees and 1.2 million pensioners in the state. Beneficiaries also include staff from aided educational institutions, technical education institutions, local urban bodies, work-charged employees, and those serving on UGC pay scales.
Employees will receive the increased DA with their November 2026 salary. Arrears for the period from July to October will be credited to employees' PF accounts, while pensioners will have their arrears deposited into their pension accounts.
The government had previously increased the DA by 2 per cent in May, meaning the total increase in 2026 has reached 5 per cent. The state government issued a Government Order regarding the hike on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
In addition to the DA increase, the Yogi Adityanath government provided a 30-day bonus for Diwali. Eligible employees can receive a maximum bonus of Rs 6,908 for the 2025–26 financial year, with 75 per cent credited to PF accounts and the rest paid in cash.
