Pakistan will consider visa for Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann
The Pakistani government stated it would evaluate a visa request from the AAP leader for a conference in Lahore.
Pakistan has stated it would evaluate whether to grant a visa to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann if he expresses a desire to visit the country, according to reports by The Federal, The Tribune and WION.
Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said during a weekly media briefing on Friday that authorities would look into the request. He noted that whether the Indian government permits the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader to travel remains a separate issue.
The remarks follow comments made by Mann on October 23, when he mentioned being invited to the World Punjabi Conference in Lahore on November 27. Mann questioned if he would receive political clearance from the Centre, noting that he had previously faced difficulties travelling to Japan and France.
Mann also expressed interest in taking all Punjab Assembly legislators to Kartarpur Sahib if the Kartarpur Corridor reopens. The corridor connects Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab with Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, allowing Indian pilgrims to visit without a visa.
The corridor has been closed to movement from the Indian side since May 7, 2025, after India launched strikes on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam attack. Khan stated that Pakistan is prepared to facilitate pilgrims once restrictions are lifted.
