Bachchan's bulletproof glass reflects government failure, says Maharashtra Congress

Spokesperson Sachin Sawant questioned the security of the film industry after actor Amitabh Bachchan appeared behind protective glass at his Mumbai residence.

Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant on Sunday criticised the Centre and the state government regarding actor Amitabh Bachchan's recent use of bulletproof glass while greeting fans outside his Mumbai home.

According to The New Indian Express, Sawant said the glass was removed on Sunday and questioned if this was due to public criticism or pressure from the BJP.

The Congress leader stated that the incident showed the failure of the governments led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra.

Sawant asked when the fear felt by Bollywood actors, producers, and directors would end, and demanded answers from the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The spokesperson alleged that a person responsible for the atmosphere of fear is currently in Gujarat's Sabarmati jail, though he did not name Lawrence Bishnoi.

The security measure followed an email sent to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde regarding bomb threats at the actor's residence. Recently, on October 18, five rounds were allegedly fired at the car of actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu, leaving his driver and a vlogger injured.
