Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced the drive to encourage citizens to contribute towards the state's electricity subsidy scheme.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced on Sunday that the state government will start a campaign on December 1 to encourage voluntary contributions toward the electricity subsidy. According to ANI, the initiative aims to invite those who wish to contribute to the programme.
The Chief Minister stated that the government provides approximately Rs 10,000 in annual electricity subsidies to each family. Under the current free electricity scheme, 1.92 crore families receive 125 units of free electricity.
Choudhary compared the appeal to a previous request by the Prime Minister for people to voluntarily give up their LPG subsidies. He said the scheme is illuminating homes across the state for families of various economic backgrounds.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Bihar on November 21 to observe the first anniversary of the NDA government in the state. Choudhary said several announcements and MoUs are expected during the visit, which will also include interested industrialists.
The Chief Minister also praised the Prime Minister for visiting Bastar, Chhattisgarh, to celebrate Diwali with security forces. He noted that under the Prime Minister's leadership, the country has achieved the goal of becoming Naxal-free.
