Iran naval commander warns US forces against aggression

Rear Admiral Mohsen Razzaqi stated that naval units are prepared to defend maritime borders around the clock.

Rear Admiral Mohsen Razzaqi, commander of Iran’s Northern Fleet, has warned US forces in the region against any aggression, according to the Times of India. Speaking at a ceremony in the northern coastal city of Astara, Razzaqi said coordination among the country's armed forces is at its highest level.

Razzaqi stated that the military strategy aims to impose prohibitive costs on any aggressor. He noted that missile, drone, and naval capabilities, along with the country's strategic position, are key to their deterrence strategy. He said the cost of aggression must be raised so that the enemy no longer dares to attack the country again, according to the IRNA news agency.

The warning follows the announcement by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) of Task Force Iron Gate. Established on Saturday under CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper, the task force includes approximately 20 civilian and military personnel based in Tampa, Florida.

The US task force aims to disrupt the movement of sanctioned materials, dual-use technologies, and advanced weapons systems across Iran's land borders and the Caspian Sea. This comes as Washington seeks to tighten restrictions on Tehran's military supply networks.

These remarks follow a directive from Supreme leader Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei in late October, which ordered maximum deterrence. Additionally, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei recently warned on X that starting a war would result in a devastating response.
