Yemen urges Lebanon to stop Hezbollah military support to Houthis
Foreign Minister Afrah Al-Zouba called for joint security coordination to disrupt logistical assistance provided to Houthi fighters.
Yemen has called on the Lebanese government to take decisive, coordinated action to end military assistance from Hezbollah to the Houthi militia, according to the Times of India. Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah Al-Zouba requested closer cooperation between the two nations to dismantle the operational support allegedly provided by the Iran-aligned group.
In a post on X, Al-Zouba welcomed Lebanon's stance on supporting Yemen's territorial integrity and unity. She urged security and intelligence agencies from both countries to work together to disrupt militant networks and prevent further military aid to the Houthis.
The internationally recognised Yemeni government has previously accused Hezbollah and its Iranian backers of providing combat drone training, ballistic missile expertise, and operational leadership to Houthi forces. Al-Zouba also expressed support for Lebanon's efforts to bring all weapons and military decisions under state control.
Responding to the situation, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned against the country being pulled into external military conflicts. Following a meeting with President Joseph Aoun on November 4, Salam stated that the state and its constitutional institutions must hold sole authority over matters of war and peace.
Salam also condemned Lebanese groups involved in military activities outside the country, specifically referencing the allegations made by the Yemeni government. He noted that such interventions could damage Lebanon's relations with neighbouring Arab nations and undermine national interests.
