Saudi Arabia issues danger alerts for Dammam, Dhahran and Abqaiq

The warnings follow claims of attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels against the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia's civil defence issued warnings of potential danger in the eastern cities of Dammam, Dhahran and Abqaiq on Sunday, according to The Times of India. The alerts were shared through posts on the social media platform X, though the nature of the potential threat was not specified.

The warnings come amid continued threats and claims of attacks by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels against the kingdom. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree previously claimed responsibility for targeting Dammam airport and a Saudi early-warning radar system, as well as a military transport aircraft in the southwestern region.

In a separate incident on Friday, November 6, the Saudi-led Coalition intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Makkah region. The spokesperson for the Coalition did not provide details regarding the drone's origin or its intended target.

On the same day, the Coalition reported intercepting and destroying two ballistic missiles launched towards Najran. Following the interception, the National Early Warning Platform issued an alert in Najran Province, advising residents to take shelter. Saudi Civil Defence later stated that the danger had passed.

The Coalition also reported destroying a ballistic missile launched towards the Madinah region on Thursday, November 5. Yahya Saree denied that announcement.

Yemen's foreign minister Afrah Al-Zouba has backed efforts by the Lebanese government to assert sovereign control over its territory and ensure decisions on weapons remain with the Lebanese state.
